Nam wins first match at Japan’s Futures

HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese Lý Hoàng Nam won his first round match at the Japan F 二 Men’s Futures in Nishi-Tokyo yesterday.

Nam defeated Issei Okamura of the hosts  六- 二,  六- 二 in  七 一 minutes.

He will play the winner of the match between No  八 seed Jumpei Yamasaka of Japan and South Korean Lee Jea-moon, which will be played today.

In other matches that were played yesterday, Japanese Yuta Shimizu beat Noh Sang-woo  六- 三,  七- 五; Ibuki Furuta won  六- 四,  六- 四 over No  七 Masato Shiga in an all-Japanese match, and Japan’s Sho Katayama defeated countryman  Hiroyasu Ehara  六- 三,  七- 六 ( 五).

Nam also makes a team with Okamura to compete in the doubles category. The No  三 seed will play Japanese Gengo Kikuchi and Shunrou Takeshima in the first match today.

The Nishi-Tokyo event will wrap up on Sunday with US$ 一 五,000 bonus for players. — VNS
