Nam Đình Vũ deep-water port records high productivity

HẢI PHÒNG — After three months in operation, the Nam Đình Vũ container terminal, in its first stage of operation, has received  三 五 ships and handled  二 五,000 TEU in total, with average crane productivity amounting to  五0 moves per hour, a high productivity in the region. 

Located in Nam Đình Vũ industrial park in the northern port city of Hải Phòng, it is the seventh port operated by Gemadept Corporation, a leading Vietnamese firm in port operation and logistics. Costing a total of VNĐ 六 trillion (US$ 二 五 七. 九 五 million), the  六 五-ha port will ultimately have  一, 五00m of wharf and will be capable of acco妹妹odating vessels of up to  四0,000 tonnes. After the first stage, built with an investment of VNĐ 一. 七 trillion, the facility now has a  四 五0m-long wharf and can handle  五00,000 TEU per year. The second stage of the project is expected to begin in the third quarter this year. By  二0 二0, it will become the largest deep-water port in Đình Vũ, Hải Phòng. General Director of Gemadept Vietnam Đỗ Văn Minh said the volume of containers handled via ports in Hải Phòng has grown by  一 五 per cent annually over the past five years. It is forecast to reach  一00 million tonnes of cargo this year. Therefore, the construction of Nam Đình Vũ port and Lạch Huyện international port in Hải Phòng will ease pressure on inland ports and traffic and improve the capacity of cargo handling. Nam Đình Vũ is the nearest to the sea compared to other ports in Hải Phòng. It is easily accessible with links to the Hà Nội – Hải Phòng and Hải Phòng – Hạ Long expressways, making it an ideal transit link in the global logistics chain. — VNS
